A Brief History of the Bangalore Amateur Radio Club
Bangalore Amateur Radio Club was founded in the year 1959 by six like minded gentlemen, who had primarily two things in common. All were deeply interested in Amateur Radio. All had their names starting with the alphabet “S”. They were,

- Sulu - VU2GV
Saibal Ghose - VU2SO
The initial callsign of the club was VU2TT, which subsequently became VU2ARC. Some of the initial members of BARC include, Gundu Rao-VU2AO and Ramachandra-VU2BB. OM Sulu brought out the first newsletter SIRAN - South India Radio Amateur's Newsletter.
In the year 2009, BARC celebrated its Golden Jubilee coinciding with the HamfestIndia 2009. BARC has a deep heritage with old timers including VU2TS, VU2GX, VU2IR, VU2RO, VU2VK, VU2WP, and many more who the present generation hams may not even know or have met.
Bangalore Amateur Radio Club was registered under the Karnataka Soceity's Act, on the 18th of August 2014 with the Registration No. SOR/122/14-15. The registered office of the Bangalore Amateur Radio Club is : C/o Ramesh Kumar K.G. No.635, 6th Main Road, Hanumanthnagar, Bangalore-560019.
BARC members traditionally met every second Sunday of the month at 6 pm, at the Bharat Scouts & Guides Hq., near KIMS Hospital, Bangalore. Currently from January 2015, the BARC members meet every month at the Karnataka Scouts & GUides Hq., Palace Road, Opposite Atria Hotel, Bangalore, as the previous facility is under reconstruction.
